Charlie has been a close friend of mine since about 1935. Yes, that's 85 years...and Charlie has been a class act all the way. You simply could not get mad at him for anything. We grew up together on 56th St. playing all kinds of street games. As we were graduating from High School, the Korean War broke out and we were all forced in different directions. Charlie joined an Airborne Division, and that's a great picture of him in uniform on this website. Weddings, the military, and education had us going in a lot of directions...but we always kept in contact. Some of you will get a "Tribute to Charlie" that is being prepared. I really can't think about Charlie without getting a big smile on my face. He is everything that many of you have written. So bright and yet so humble. Always concerned about others. He would make anyone feel good with his friendly ways. I wont dwell on how good a friend he was because he was a friend to everyone.. If he had one downside, it would be that he would crush you in a game of Bridge. My sincere condolences to the family. Your sadness of the moment will drift away as you enjoy memories of the goodness and fun that Charlie was. Rest in Peace, Charlie...You were one of the really good ones.

Though I am saddened to learn the passing of Cousin Charlie, I have many memories to bring a smile to my face. Charlie was married to my mom's first cousin Evelyn. Growing up in the 60's and early 70's, a trip to see Cousins Evelyn and Charlie was an exciting event. At times they would come to us on Long Island -myself and my siblings would be so excited to see them and their children. When I went to undergrad college I decided to be a chemistry major. I remember Charlie being excited by that and during those four years whenever I saw him he would love to hear about how my studies were going and always was supportive. As adults anytime we saw Cousin Charlie he always showed great interest in what was happening in our lives. He truly was a great cousin and person.,
From myself and my siblings, Lorraine, Denise and Joseph, we send our love, prayers and condolences to Edward, Carol and Donna!

We will always remember the good times we spent with your Mom, Evelyn, and your Dad, Charlie at home or in Fort Meyers.
We always had such laughs and fun. Buck went to Brooklyn College with Charlie and whenever we got together , they would reminisce.
Our condolences to you and your family. As others have said, Charlie was a gentleman and will be missed.
Charles and Evelyn will forever be with you in you heart!
Sincerely, Camille and Harold Lubeski

Remembering the happy times we had with you while visiting you at the Allendale Community for Senior Living.
I always enjoyed playing piano for you and your many friends there and watching you dance with Donna and many of the "young" women who also lived there and called that place home. "I Left My Heart in San Fransisco" will always be a special song to me as I will remember how you sang it to the group gathered in the Atrium and then led the group in singing other songs as I played the piano. We made quite a team Dad.
I will miss our pancake breakfasts together at Matthew's Diner and how the folks who worked there knew that we were 2 Norwegians who loved our coffee and made sure our cups were always full...cup after cup as we talked about Brooklyn, Nanny and Poppy and Trinity.
Over the 45 years I knew you Dad you were always a "gentle man" and a gentleman" Please send my love to my mom and dad, Evelyn, Nanny and Poppy.
I will do my best to keep the promise I made you.
I will never forget you
Love
Peter

To my husband Mike and me Charlie was a brother, not a cousin-in-law. From our teenage years to our senior years, we enjoyed so many wonderful times together. We enjoyed traveling together and happy winter days in Florida. One would be hard pressed to find a kinder person than Charlie. Always a gentleman. He possessed a fine mind and professionally he is to be admired. His wife my cousin Evelyn, was so proud of him and devotion. Together they made a beautiful life and family. We miss them sorely but have the cherished memories.
Lovingly,
Cousins Micki and Mike

As far as father-in-laws go, I couldn’t have done any better! Charlie was always welcoming, very generous and kind. He was so proud of everyone in his family and loved spending time with them and the feeling was mutual. It was a pleasure seeing him interact with his grandsons, including my son, Charles. He would notice how tall he was getting, was interested to know his favorite subjects in school, and he came to some of his little league games. Charlie was what I consider a true gentleman, which is very rare. I am happy he was part of my life for over 20 years and I will sincerely miss him.

Dear Carol, Donna, and Ed
I remember your father as a kind and gentle man who loved his family. He made me feel welcome whenever I came to visit. He took interest in what I was doing and would offer advice based on his experience in the business world. I especially enjoyed my conversations with him about the rewards and challenges I faced in my professional life.
Your dad was a true patriot who served when duty called. May he rest in peace.

Dear dad, - Thanks so much for all your support throughout my life. It always meant so much. I will always remember how you came to watch me teach at the adult ESL program in Albany and you were so proud and supportive. we had many nice dinners together in Albany when I was studying there and you were working there. You were always so kind and gentle to everyone you met. You never had a bad word to say about anyone. You were a true example of humility and gentleness. Your family meant so much to you and you were so proud of your children and grandchildren. You were always so happy to speak to your children and grandchildren about their endeavors. Your favorite verse was John 3:16 -"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish , but have eternal life. I know you are in heaven now. I will always keep you in my heart. Thanks for your example to me.

Dad,
I will always miss you, but consider myself damn lucky to have had you. Your shining example and assistance along the way were immeasurable in my life. Too often in these times people envy those who have riches and fame. But I wouldn't trade what I had in you for any of it. I will miss our outings together to the VA or the barber. Even in your last years when your memory was failing, you never forgot who your family was and I thank God for that.
I pray you have now been reunited with Mom and the two of you are just as happy as you were in this photo.
thanks again
Love Ed
