Sis – I read a long time ago the closest relative you have (other then that of identical twins) is a sibling of the same sex. You were certainly that to me, but you were also a great deal more. As your younger sister, I looked up to you, you were beautiful, intelligent, organized, so loving, giving, unselfish, and had a wonderful wit. There were times however that we would butt heads, because at seven and a half years younger you gave me lots of advice. Being impulsive, highly energetic, a little volatile, and stubborn, I was not too happy to take it. Looking back however, you gave good advice and I respect you for loving me enough to give it. I remember some of the wonderful times we had together as a family. Our trips out East and at the Cape where people thought Minnesotans were still fighting the Indians. I also remember the many times we were together in Arizona at Mom’s when we were at the Heard Museum when you threw your prostheses at your niece Ashly – kinda dramatic but funny. We had wonderful times up North at the cabins in Park Rapids too. I hold dear the time you, Bernard, John and I walked several miles in the pouring rain in New York City. We warmed up at a fabulous fish diner and then went to an art gallery where I purchased a Le Pho painting. I love you Marge and will always keep your family dear. Your Loving Sister Pam

We were so fortunate to know and love all of the Japys for many years. How we wish we might be with all your friends on the 21st of August but we are sure you understand that with our health conditions it is something not possible and makes us very sad. We will surely be thinking of you all. Aren't memories wonderful? We have so many happy memories of the Japys which we are not likely to ever forget. Perhaps there will be opportunities to see you, especially Bernard. Do you hike in New Hampshire? Do any of the children live in new Hampshire? How special it would be to see any of you! We will not ever forget our friends, the Japys. Love to you all from Ellie, John, and children.

Farewell my dear cousin. I will always remember your upbeat personality and your wonderful sense of humor...especially your laughter and delight at my brother's wedding dinner when they sat us together and at a very young age I offered to "peel you a grape."

Aunt Marge was, without a doubt, a woman with an incredibly infectious sense of humor. I will never forget the time in Arizona when Marge, Mamie (my grandma and Marge's sister) and I went to the ice cream parlor in Scottsdale. I was 10 years old, and we had spent the day at the Heard Museum trying to find a topic for my upcoming 4th grade school project. Honestly, I remember little of the museum, but everything about our trip to the ice cream parlor. Both Marge and I had to use the restroom, so we asked the man who worked there where the ladies room was. He pointed to the back of the parlor. Marge and I hurried toward the direction the man had pointed to and saw three doors. Two of the doors were right next to each other, with the ladies room sign perched directly between the doors. Marge decided she would go in first and make sure everything was good and safe for me. So she hurried inside the door that sat to the right of the ladies room sign. She closed the door behind her and then I heard a strange noise, like something falling to the floor, and I hoped that Marge was okay. Before I could call out and see if she was alright the door opened and Marge stumbled out and said: "Well, unless I am supposed to use a bucket as my toilet, I am pretty sure this is a broom closet and not a restroom. And if it is a restroom, I don't even want to know what the broom is for!" I looked at her and immediately roared with laughter, in fact, both Marge and I laughed so loudly I am sure people thought we were crazy. The "Broom Closest Extravaganza", as I now like to call it, became the story of the trip. My sister Kate still likes me to tell that story and I enjoy telling it every time. There are many things I will miss about my Great! Aunt Marge, but the one thing I will miss the most is being able to joke together about that broom closet. I feel very blessed to have had Marge as a part of my family and she will never be far from my mind. Marge, I love you very much. Thank you so much for all the laughs!
Much Love Always,
Ashly

I met Mrs. Japy when I was about 2 and became lifelong friends with her daughter Kate. My family called her Rose. I will always think of her incredible sense of humor and love of life. She was so much fun to be around, always with a clever comment about the situation at hand. I have so many fond memories of camping with the Japy's, outings with Kate and her Mom, lunches at their house on Wedgemere. She was so generous and warm. May you rest in peace Rose.
