Obituary of Catherine Cantisano

CANTISANO, Catherine J., age 81, of Hawthorne, died on Friday, June 5, 2009. Born in Scoglitti Ragusa, Sicily, Catherine lived for many years in Paterson before moving to Hawthorne. She was a member of St. Anthony's RC Church in Paterson where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Iannuzzi of Phoenix, AZ and Eileen (Joseph) Calderon of Knoxville, TN. Grandchildren Josh Iannuzzi of Phoenix, Nicole Pittman of Knoxville and Stephen Calderon of Honolulu, Hawaii. Great grandsons Andrew and Alex Pittman of Knoxville, TN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Catherine is predeceased by her husband Adolph and her brother Joseph. Catherine instilled in her children the love and necessity of music and the arts. Without her persistence to appreciate all music, they would have not been exposed to so much beauty and excellence. For this, her daughters will be eternally grateful. Visiting hours are Wednesday 8:30am - 9:30am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral Mass is Wednesday 10:30 am at St. Anthony's RC Church, 138 Beech St., Paterson, NJ. Interment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
