Obituary of Marilyn De Block

DE BLOCK, Marilyn "Max" (nee Van Ek) age 68 of Oakland, NJ, died peacefully at her home on Monday, April 28, 2008. Marilyn was born in Paterson on December 31, 1939, she had been a resident of Oakland for the past 48 years and spent much of her free time in Speculator, NY. Marilyn was a home maker and a member of the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff. She enjoyed many activities, including the Calvinette program of the church where she served as president of the Eastern Council. She was a member of the Auxiliary at the Holland Christian Home and served as a volunteer at the Eastern Christian Children's Retreat. Surviving is her loving husband of 49 years, Leonard, her children, Laurie De Block of Harrisburg, NC, Dan De Block and his wife Kathy, Leonard W. De Block all of Wyckoff, and her grandchildren Denny, Wes, Danielle, Garret and Andrew. Marilyn also leaves her mother Ruth Van Ek, her sister Ruth Visbeen, and her brother Edward Van Ek.. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 am at the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 530 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow in the Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. Visiting is Thursday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
