Dear Lynda and Sullivan family,
I am truly sorry for your loss and I send you my heartfelt condolences. Ken is one of the nicest, smartest, quick-witted and most generous people I know, and I know that he was a great husband, dad, grandfather and devoted family man. He used to brag about all of you.
No matter wherever he is, he'll always be watching over you.
A man's life is defined, to great extent, by his values and his passions. Today we are honoring a great man - Ken Sullivan - a fine husband, awesome dad, Lynda's best and dearest friend, a good provider, a devoted family man and as I'm sure many of you know, had a quick wit and a mind that was amazing!
I had the honor and privilege to work with Ken for 10+ years until his retirement. He took me in under his wing at Viacom, I was a young man changing my career path and he mentored me into the success I became in the Facilities Management industry. He taught me so much not only about Facilities and Asset Management, but about life and especially that Ken Sullivan calm and cool demeanor no matter the day, time or situation (Y2K, The Blackout, 9/11 and many others).
I remember some of his best quotes to me:
Eddie "looks like you'll have to put the toothpaste back in the tube on this one", when we were presented by the many challenges of keeping MTVN safe and successful during their production events at 1515 and outside in Times Square or the 7th Flr. setback.
Eddie "you bet on the wrong horse this time - keep them safe and get it done", when I had just started and MTVN wanted to do a crazy production event and I didn't approve it, he taught me the lesson that Facilities doesn't generate revenue MTVN does...the shoot was approved and we kept them safe.
He called Times Square the "Bow-tie".
I was fortunate enough to join him in one of his passions on several occasions - GOLF...what great times we had. My father came in to the office one day and fitted him for clubs he made for him when he was first picking up the game. What a great day that was to be there with the both of them.
The most important thing I can say about our relationship was that he believed in me. The world is filled with adult men who never heard from their Boss "I'm proud of you!", he spared me that void. That's the greatest gift I ever received from him.
I will always remember the great times we had together and celebrate the life of a great man.
I'll see you on the other side on the tee box in the sky KJ!
Love you Ken.
Yours truly,
Eddie Nakashian
