Every summer while growing up, Michael and I got to spend a week at each others house. It was the best 2 weeks of every summer. Our Mom's were brilliant sending us off for a week each :)
While staying at Michaels house, we would play a lot of baseball with Billy, Stephan, Chuck and the neighborhood kids. If Uncle Charlie was around, he would always play with us. He was the biggest kid in the neighborhood. A great benefit of that was, instead of having the usual OUT/SAFE squabbles...when Uncle Charlie boomed...OUT... well that was pretty much it.
One of my best memories of Uncle Charlie is...whenever it was his turn at bat, he NEVER took a half-swing. And that made you better. I would have run through a fence to catch one of his monster shots.
But it always left the impression on me...there goes a man who never takes a half-swing. What a great way to live your life!
I love you and miss you Uncle Charlie.

I meet Charlie on my 1st trip to Honduras. I had a true friend and brother instantaneously. He was strong and compassionate figure, who loved the Lord and his family. Charlie was an amazing example to me of how to fully live life and to appreciate everything. I'll miss you, Charlie!

With my deepest condolences on the passing of Charles Silverstein. My fondest memories were on the softball field of Midland Park. Mr Silverstein was amazing man who had a true love for religion, family and sports. He was exceptionally kind and welcoming to all who played on the team. He enjoyed playing ball but mostly he loved playing ball with members of his family. With such a personal love for sports, especially softball, I am truly honored to have met such an amazing person who was cherished by all. Like a coach standing at third base, waving his arms to clear the runners path...Mr Silverstein, you’re clear to finish your trot home. God speed sir.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Charlie. He was such a nice Christian man and always had a smile for everyone.
He and his wife Marie were such a blessing to Bridgeway Community Church. He will certainly be missed and now his faith has become sight. May God bless and send comfort to Marie and his children.✝️ In Christian Love and Sympathy, Diane and John Tanis
