#3 Kira (Hillidge) was a valued Victoria Y club team mate during our formative years. As a team we practiced 3 times per week year round and travelled extensively to compete in tournaments. Between 1987-89 we had enviable win/ loss records. We trained hard and played even harder. Kira was an integral part of this team. She was a talented volleyball player and team leader. Off the court her gregarious personality and infectious laugh/ smile could always bring us through tough times.
I was saddened to hear of Kira’s passing last weekend. Although we had lost touch after club volleyball, Facebook allowed us to reconnect virtually and I enjoyed watching her raise a beautiful family. Sending condolences to her husband and children. Rest easy Kira... Hugs, Jessica Land

Dearest Rob, Jackson, Isla and all the family,
We are so incredibly heartbroken for you and our deepest condolences to you during this difficult time. I wish i can take your pain away and even though we've known Kira for a short time, she was so loving, genuine and we will hold this dear in our hearts forever. She was always smiling and she had such a positive outlook in everything in life.
In the conversations I had with her at the sidelines of soccer, I'm lucky to have met her and of course all of you. We love you guys and know that we are always thinking of you and are here for you. Much love from Aaron, Norelie, Connor and Oliver Beatty.

I am so very sorry to hear such sad news. Kira and I got to know each other when I was working in Jackson's kindergarten class and then again when I would see her dropping off a very reluctant Isla. Isla and I got to know each other as I would help her get out of the car int the mornings to go to school. I would later see her in the halls with all smiles, and knew the day was going to be fine. Kira was always smilin, too. I enjoyed chatting with her on the playground. She will always be remembered as a brave, beautiful, smiling woman. Much love to Rob, Jackson, and Isla.

Kira volunteered in my school library for many years. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she would still come in and cheerfully help the students. She was a wonderfully supportive mom and a great helper. We will all miss her.

I remember singing to Kira when she was small I used to sing I'm bringing home my baby bumblebee won't my mommy be so proud of me....and she loved it. When I got older, as me being 10 years older than Kira she would watch me get ready before I went out and I would be putting on my mascara and she asked me? Theresa, why when you put your mascara on is your mouth open and I said to her I don't know Kira? Lol good question. When Kira got older and we got together, at one of our family Easter dinners at moms house she said to me, Theresa remember when you used to go out and I asked you why do you open your mouth when you put mascara on? and I said omg yes I do! Kira said.... now I know why lol and we both laughed.
There was another time when we drove out with the family to Vancouver and when we got there I was hiding on the floor in the backseat to surprise her when Mom opened the door she saw me back there and she was so excited and started jumping up and down we were both so excited.
These are just a few of my many memories I spent with Kira and of course there are many many more that I can't list because they are too long.
Kira told me that she looked up to me and that truly melted my heart xo
