Helen and my Mom (Charlotte Spener) were such good friends for many years. I remember Helen fondly -- she had a great sense of humor. While going through my Mom's photos, I found this one of a young Helen and thought I would share it with you. I have wonderful memories of that whole group of life-long friends!

Helen and Fred lived across the street from us on Hillside Ave. I don't think there was ever a day in the 41 years we were there that there wasn't a smile on her face. Her eyes always lit up with joy and kindness. She was a true gift to all who knew her.

The Youngs were our next door neighbors went I grew up on Hillside Ave. There are two things that stand out when I think of Helen. First, her kindness. As my mother struggled raising 6 boys by herself Helen was always there. She was very supportive of my mom, sometimes just to listen and give my mom someone to talk to. Many times she would just pitch in and help my mom with chores around the house.
The thing that I like the most about Helen was her laugh.. As she told stories or other people told stories she would break out with a loud contagious laugh. It was the best.

Hi Tom. Thank you for your kind words about Mom. I remember all of you Indoe boys very well and I'm glad you were able to visit her when she was at the Home. She will be missed so much by Bob and I and family. And the laugh will continue...I have inherited it as well as one of my daughters. Say hi to your brothers for me. Linda

Helen was my neighbor for 27 years on Hillside Ave in Midland Park. Helen was like a second Grandmother to my children. She always had a smile and always had good outlook on life .
I am proud to say that Helen was a great neighbor, and a great friend.
I will miss her.

Aunt Helen was our next door neighbor, but she was really more like a grandmother to my sisters, brother and me. She was always there for birthday parties, family picnics and other family functions. I remember when I was little going over and watching The Price Is Right with her, picking up the walnuts that fell from her trees for a penny each, and the blankets she knitted for each of us. Aunt Helen was one of the most cheerful people I've ever met, and you could always pick her out of a crowd by her joyful laugh. I'm so sad that she's no longer with us, but it was a joy to have her in my life.

Aunt Helen, You are one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever known. You were such a blessing to us. To have a neighbor who becomes a treasured member of our family is something that doesn’t happen often and we are so lucky to have had you. The sound of your laughter and your constant cheerfulness always put a smile on my face. You were an angel on earth and now you are an angel in heaven. We love you!

She loved you all so much Kristin. I am so grateful to your family for taking such good care of my Mom for so many years. My heart goes out to you and your family as you mourn the loss of your Mom. I can just hear the two of them laughing in Heaven. Love to you, Linda and Bob
