Absolutely heartbroken over the loss of my spiritual mentor Joseph Letterese who was laid to rest today. I met Joe over 25 years ago and have been so blessed to know him and his family over these years. He was instrumental in leading me out of the darkness and into a healthy and fulfilling life in Christ. He was used of God greatly to touch those around him and am sure that many will inherit the kingdom because of him. For me it was a true Romans 11:11 encounter "I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy." This was the story of Joe and I. There was always something different that I admired in him. I later found that it was the Holy Spirit. He was bold to share the gospel when I did not want to hear it, and for that I will be forever grateful. He had a love for the Jewish people and the lost. He was a true patriot, Marine, policeman, collector and historian. I will miss him terribly but have the eternal hope of seeing him again in the kingdom one day. I am sure that he is gearing up as I write this with his resurrected body and enlisting in the army of angels. If I know him at all he will be leading a platoon or division of angels in no time. I am also sure that many crowns awaited his entry last week. I am heartbroken for Nancy and Katherine, but being great women of faith I know that Jehova Rapha will comfort them and guide them through this season. My deepest condolences to Joe's family and extended family. May God be with you always. Peter Karlan

My old friend , it's been a long long time ,but the good memories of the times we had are still with me.
Cruising to the disco in your brown 71 Buick.
Building a tree stand with you ,you got a deer from it, and shared it with me.
Hanging out with you on 4th of july, many years ago, when I met my future wife that night.
You were a good guy and a good friend.
Rest in peace.

Our deepest condolences to Nancy and Katherine. Joe will always be alive in our hearts as we remember his role in sharing the gospel with Marc. Joe had an evangelical heart and sharing the gospel was his passion. Joe ran the race to completion and is now receiving his reward in Heaven hearing the words- " Well done, my good and faithful servant!".
Although we will miss Joe on earth, his transition to Heaven is being celebrated by those who preceded him as he sees his Savior face to face. This is what believers yearn for and for Joe this dream has become a reality.
Goodbye Joe! Until we meet again in Heaven.
Thank you for your service to our country and to our Creator!
Susheela Thomas- Sommer.
