As a Finance Officer of the Reformed Church in America Chuck established, and then for many years led, a unique program benefitting retired RCA pastors and their wives. Thanks to Chuck, and the team he assembled and trained, these retired pastors and their wives, living throughout the United States and Canada, each received an annual visit. Chuck also arranged for elderly pastors and their wives, living at or below the poverty line, to receive financial assistance. Chuck approached this ministry, as well as his other responsibilities, with unusual sensitivity, wisdom, discretion and joy. My sympathy goes out to Karen and others in Chuck’s family, many of whom I have had the privilege to know.
