Dearest Caroline and Marilyn -- Our hearts go out to you as we reflect on all the memories. Our parents were friends since the 1940's, and our families shared so many incredible memories over the years. Mary and my Mom worked together at CIT Financial in NYC for decades, where they developed deep admiration for one another and the closest of friendships. I remember our family always traveled to your house for Christmas, even before you were born. And after my parents became empty nesters, they relished spending New Year's Eve overnight at your Mom and Dad's. Mary and my Mom enjoyed countless hours visiting by phone on a regular basis. And my Dad marveled that Mary was one of the few people he knew who could take over preparation of the Canda tax returns on her own, despite all the complexities, and match his own high standards. I loved Mary's gentleness, her interest in and vast knowledge of so many things health related, and her total and complete passion for politics. And I was in awe of her commitment to her work for so many years, decades after most people retire. What an extraordinary lady! She loved her family deeply and was so proud of you, Caroline and Marilyn. And she adored her son-in-laws and her beloved grandchildren so much! What a wonderful testimony to Mary's love, tenderness, strength and devotion that these traits are now borne by you and your beautiful families. May you be comforted by Mary's long life, well lived, and many wonderful memories. Like you, I miss her terribly. But her memory will live on through all she touched so deeply. I picture my parents and yours already catching up on so much, now together in heaven. They loved each other so.
