Obituary of Linda C. Allen
Linda C. Allen, 76, of Franklin Lakes, NJ passed away on October 13th after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Manhattan on December 13th 1942 to Peter and Kathryn Braginetz. She grew up in the Bronx and then Washington Township NJ and graduated from Westwood High School. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University as a mathematician. In 1963 she married Frederick Allen and they settled in Hasbrouck Heights at which time she was involved in local politics and the Jaycees.
In 1976 she moved to Franklin Lakes and immediately got involved in local politics. She was a member of the Franklin Lakes Republican Club and was elected to serve on the Franklin Lakes Town Council for over a decade. In addition she served on the Franklin Lakes Zoning and Planning Boards for many years. She also worked as a math teacher at the Midland Park High School. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood where she was a member of the knitting group. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She also was a volunteer at the Audubon Lorrimer Nature Sanctuary in Franklin Lakes and a longtime member of the Indian Trail Club as well as the Franklin Lakes Seniors Group. Linda and her husband loved to travel and spent many years touring the world. Not too long ago they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends.
Linda is survived by her sons, Peter and his wife Rebecca & Jeff and his wife Dena. She will be dearly missed by her 4 precious grandchildren, Jennifer, Laura, William & Megan. She is also survived by her sister Laraine Flanagan of Lincoln Park and her many nephews and nieces. Linda lived a full life and was never without her faithful dog Oscar.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4pm to 7pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ. A funeral service will begin at 10:30am on Friday, October 18th at the funeral home with a burial to follow at Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah. Memorial contributions can be made in Linda’s memory to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
