Obituary of Russell G. Pilcher

Russell G. Pilcher, 87, of Waldwick died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 12, 2019. Born in 1932 to Ruth and Thomas Pilcher in Fabius, NY. He was the oldest of 5 boys. He was predeceased by his three brothers Thomas, Burton and Leeland and his daughter Susan Weissenberg. Russell is survived by his youngest brother David. Beloved husband of Cecelia to whom he was married to for 36 years, loving father of Debra Niedermeyer, Kathleen Blazina and Susan Simonson. Beloved grandfather of Robert, Alex, Chet, Audrey, Michael, Natalie, Erin, Emily and Allyse. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his long time aide, Maria. Russell proudly served his country with the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC as a paratrooper. After his service he attended Syracuse University where he had the privilege of playing football with the famous Jim Brown. He eventually came to live in Mahwah, NJ where he retired from The Ford Motor Company. During his retirement, he enjoyed boating, gardening, spending time with his family and cheering on the New York Giants. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Mausoleum where military honors will be rendered.
