Obituary of Terrill W. Bergstedt

Bergstedt, Terrill W., of Wyckoff NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 03, 2019, at the age of 74. He was a resident of Wyckoff for over 40 years. Terry was born on March 9th, 1944, in Elizabeth, New Jersey the son of Maude and Milton Bergstedt. He attended Linden High School and was a 1966 graduate of Allegheny College. He was a proud member of the Air Force National Guard and a lifelong supporter of America’s men and women in the Armed Services. Terry was united in marriage to Barbara Bergstedt in 1968. He went on to a career spanning over 50 years in the financial services and investment advisory industry where he managed branch office operations and compliance for several New York Stock Exchange member firms. He supervised and mentored numerous associates at E.F. Hutton and Prudential Securities achieving membership in their President’s Club as well as many recognition awards for outstanding achievements. He personally managed hundreds of millions of dollars in client assets with a focus on retail, high net worth clients, pension funds and institutional accounts. He was often named to the Winner's Circle in State by State listings for New York and New Jersey. This best in class Winner's Circle financial advisor recognition exemplified creative wealth management solutions which provided clients with superior service. Terry loved caring for and staying in close contact with his wide circle of friends, his clients and especially his family. He spent much of his free time developing, improving and communicating with everyone in his social network and he had a true passion for living life to the fullest. He loved to spend time laughing, talking and celebrating with his grandchildren who could do no wrong in his eyes. He attended their sports games, built model kits, encouraged their schoolwork and was the proud “Poppy” that gave his life true meaning. He leaves behind heartbroken friends and family including his wife, Barbara, daughter Jennifer, four grandchildren: Matthew, Phoebe, Tommy, Lucy and Nephew Val. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all. The family will be receiving friends Saturday, March 9th from 12 pm to 2:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff NJ.
