Obituary of Marta Riquelme

Marta Riquelme, 90, of Waldwick, NJ died on January 5, 2019.  Born in Havana, Cuba, she lived in Astoria, NY before moving to Waldwick 14 years ago.   

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marta was a computer programmer in New York City and an executive secretary in the Cuban banking industry.      

Marta is survived by her children:  Rene and his wife Gisela, Marta and her husband Douglas Mayer, Fernando and his wife Lynda, and Juan Carlos and his wife Joyce. Marta was also a cherished grandmother to Veronica, Gregory (Valerie), Phillip, Kyle (Stephanie), William, Kaylyn, Hannah, Abigail, and James, and great-grandmother to Leia.  In 2009, Marta was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, René.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff.

Funeral Mass is Wednesday January 9, at 10:00 AM at St. Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Queens, NY.
