Obituary of Nicholas G. Paleologos

Nicholas G. Paleologos, of Saddle River, passed away on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 at the age of 75. He was born and raised in Washington Heights, NYC in 1943, to Mary Statys and Constantine Paleologos.  After moving to NJ, he attended Fort Lee High School, graduating in 1961.  He attended Pace College obtaining his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1965, and later obtained his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He began his career as an Accountant with Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte), obtaining his CPA license, then opening his own professional practice in 1975, which he operated for the last 42 years until his retirement in 2017.  Nick lived, worked and raised his family in Saddle River, since 1981.

Nick was a starting offensive lineman for the 1960 Fort Lee High School Bridgeman State Champion Football team.  He served as a member of the Saddle River Board of Education from 1987 - 1991.  He was a Shakespeare scholar, an avid racquetball player, and devoted NY Yankees and Washington Redskins fan.  His great success in business, and in life, can be attributed to his unwavering work ethic.  His love and dedication to his family and friends knew no boundaries, whether it was lending a helping hand or a listening ear.

He is survived by Nina, his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 49 years. He was a dedicated father to his son, Nick, and daughter Norell, his Son-in-Law Jay, as well as, his loving grandchildren Luca Nicholas & Cira Nina.  He also leaves behind his sister, Carol Makrides, and nephew Anthony Makrides. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews in NJ, NY, PA, MA and his many cousins from NY, MD, FL, DC, CA, VA & Canada.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18th from 3 to 7pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home,  www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave and Monday, November 19th beginning at 10am. Prayers will be offered at 10:45am, with burial to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
