Obituary of Eleanor Schloesser

Eleanor E. Schloesser of Franklin Lakes, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, November 5, 2018, at the age of 91. Eleanor was born in Passaic, NJ and came to Franklin Lakes with her parents, Paul and Elsa Melzer in the early 1950's. Eleanor resided in Franklin Lakes with her family and beloved husband, Gustav, of over 50 years.  Eleanor took pride in her role as mother, wife and caretaker to her mother, and worked for the Franklin Lakes School District as a crossing guard at Woodside Avenue Elementary School.  Proud of her German heritage, Eleanor eagerly taught her children and grandchildren to carry on family traditions, which are still honored today. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing games such as crossword puzzles, card games, and bingo. Her gentle nature, loving personality and kindness will be sorely missed. Predeceased by brother, Paul Melzer, and husband, Gustav Schloesser. Devoted mother to Donna Mansmann, her husband John; Paul Schloesser and his wife Jeanne.  Cherished Oma to three granddaughters: Lynnae Failla, Kristen Moore, and Jessica Peterson. Soon-to-be great grandmother to child of Kristen and Ashton Moore and Lynnae and Michael Failla.  Family and friends are invited to the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ on Saturday, November 17, 2018 beginning at 3:00 PM with a service following at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Ave., Ramsey, NJ 07446 or to the Franklin Lakes Volunteer Ambulance Corps., P.O.
