Obituary of Arturo G. Allegra

Arturo Giovanni Allegra, age 77 of Mahwah, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Born in Palermo, Sicily, Arturo came to the United States in 1963 settling with his family in Bergen County. He was owner and Chef of Arturo’s Restaurant in Midland Park since 1982. Surviving is his loving wife and partner in business, Nicolina and his devoted sons Mariano and his wife Deborah and Marcello. Arturo also leaves his adoring grandsons, Mariano and Stefano.  In Sicily he leaves behind his brother, Carlo and his three sisters, Rosa, Matilda and Maria. The Allergra family will receive friends on Sunday, 12:00 until 4:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will be held Monday, 10:00 AM at the St. Elizabeth’s R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Entombment will be in the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 986 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081.
