Obituary of Ruth A. Groenewal (DeVries)

Ruth A. Groenewal (DeVries) age 84 of North Haledon died peacefully on Friday, August 10, 2018. Born in Paterson, Ruth was raised in Prospect Park enjoying her childhood years attending Eastern Academy. Later she married her first love, Henry Groenewal and raised her family of 4 children in North Haledon. She was a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff where she enjoyed singing in the Choir, volunteering her time at Church and Eastern Christian Schools.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her devoted children, Henry and his wife Lori, Barbara and her husband Steven King, Debra and her husband Steven Stout and Douglas and his wife Virginia. Ruth also leaves 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, her sister Betty Tolsma and her brother Peter Botbyl and his wife Tannette. Ruth was pre-deceased by her first husband Henry Groenewal in 1980, her 2nd husband John DeVries in 2016 and 2 grandchildren.

The Groenewal family will receive friends on Sunday, August 12, 2018, 3:00 until 6:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Private services will be held Monday followed by interment at the Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
