Obituary of Catherine S. Henderson

Catherine S. Henderson, age 62, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 25, 2018. Born in Teaneck, Cathy lived in River Edge, Ho-Ho-Kus and Hawthorne before moving to Wyckoff in 1996.  She was a 1974 graduate of River Dell High School and graduated Lynchburg College in Virginia in 1978.  In her early career she worked in the Tax office of the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus before assuming the position of Borough Administrator. She retired from Ho-Ho-Kus in 2006 and furthered her career as Chief Financial Officer for the Borough of Emerson. Cathy was in Emerson from 2008 until her retirement in 2016.  Her many activities and organizations included, the Bergen County Tax Collector Treasurer Assn, Government Finance Officers Assn. of NJ, the Zonta Club of Bergen County, Girl Scout Troop in River Edge, and an active parishioner of St. Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus.  Surviving is loving husband of 29 years, William D. Henderson, her beloved mother, Cay Shuart, her devoted brother Jack Shuart, her niece Holly and her husband Joao Martins, her nephew John Shuart and his wife Caroline, her great niece, Everleigh and great nephews, Oliver, John, Thomas and Jasper.  The Henderson and Shuart families will receive friends on Thursday, June 28, 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff.  Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 29 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke’s R.C. Church, 340 Franklin Tpk., Ho-Ho-Kus.  Interment will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714.
