Obituary of Anthony G. Galella

Anthony G. Galella “Tony” passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the age of 94. Born in Bronx, New York, he was a long time resident of Midland Park. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII, serving in three conflict battles in the Pacific: Tinian, Saipan and Marshall Island. Before retiring in 1975, Tony was a sanitation worker for the N.Y. Department of Sanitation. After retirement, he was employed as a custodian for the Pascack Valley Board of Education in the High School for 20 years, retiring in 1995. He was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park, NJ. Tony is predeceased by his wife Patricia L. Galella. He is survived by his seven children: Michele Zimmerman, her husband Larry, Debra Galella, Patricia King, her husband John, Denise Boffalo, her husband Ed, Anthony Galella, his wife Kathy, Michael Galella, his wife Monica, Mark Galella, his wife Bianca; 12 grandchildren: Johnny, Robbie, Anthony, Stevie, Eddie, Taylor, Danielle, Joseph, Giovanni, Vincent, Nicole and Michael; 10 Great Grandchildren; and his sister Jean Pasquale. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 3 – 8 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park, NJ 07432. Interment will follow at Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood. Contributions in Tony’s memory may be made to the Midland Park Knights of Columbus, c/o Church of the Nativity.
