Obituary of Jean L. Willson

Willson, Jean Lampe, 88, of Waldwick, NJ died peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Jean was a lifelong resident of Waldwick having been born on her grandfather’s farm on Prospect Street. Jean was very proud of her family’s early Dutch history in Bergen County. She and her husband were given one of the last plots of family land in Waldwick where they built their home in 1963. Jean graduated from Ramsey HS in 1946 taking the train from Waldwick up to Ramsey daily. She continued her education at Ridgewood Secretarial School and worked in insurance until her marriage in 1958. She met her husband, Paul, at a fried chicken dinner at Old Paramus Reformed Church in Ridgewood, NJ. The couple was married there and Jean became a very active member over the years. She served on many committees including Worship, Flower, Women’s Guild and Harvest Fair Chairperson. Jean also prepared the Coffee Hour that followed the church service for many years.  Jean later became administrative assistant to the Sr. Vice President  of Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ and excelled in this position for twenty years.  Jean was predeceased by her husband, Paul B. WiIlson, Jr. in 2012. She also leaves behind a son, Paul B. Willson, III , and his wife Kimberly of Waldwick, NJ.  A daughter, Holly W. Norton, and her husband, Michael of Pittsboro, North Carolina. A brother, James Lampe of Parrish Florida, a niece, Lynne Lampe Benton and her husband Glen of Texas and a nephew, James Lampe, Jr and his wife Susan of North Carolina. There are also four cherished grandchildren surviving, Matthew and Amanda Willson and Malcolm and Trilby Norton.  When you get to Heaven Mom, say hi to Dad. We miss him too! Burial will be private with a memorial service on Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 am at Old Paramus Reformed Church, Ridgewood, NJ. Friends and family are invited to come and celebrate Jean’s joyful life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to: OPRC Women’s Guild , Old Paramus Reformed Church, 660 E. Glen Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ. 07450. Arrangements are by Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff.
