Obituary of John J Pitaresi

John J. Pitaresi, age 93 of West Milford, formerly of Moonachie and Franklin Lakes, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 25, 2017. John was a letter carrier in the city of Hoboken for over 40 years.  He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater. John is survived by his daughter, Robyne Hogan, his granddaughter Megan Hogan and his sister, Pauline Amato.  He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Mildred Pitaresi (nee Caporaso) in 2008, his brother Samuel and his sisters Peggy Chirichella, Josephine Ventolo and Marie Pitaresi.  He was a kind, gentle, man with a big heart and smile.  He will be greatly missed.  The Pitaresi family will receive friends on Tuesday June 27, 2017, 4:00-7:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, Wyckoff (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin  Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:30 AM at the funeral home, entombment will follow at the Hackensack Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers: memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the West Milford Animal Shelter Society, Lycosky Road, West Milford, NJ 07480.
