Obituary of George Von Essen

George T. Von Essen, age 84 died on Thursday, September 20, 2007. Born in Franklin Square, NY, he lived for many years in Midland Park before moving to Waldwick 14 years ago. George was a director of purchasing for Givaudan Corporation of Clifton for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force and he was a member of the Old Tappan Golf Club. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan (nee Baylis) , his two daughters, Susan C. Brown of Hawthorne and Cynthia A. Von Essen of Hawthorne, his two granddaughters, Katie and Ali Brown and his two sisters, Helen Von Essen and Agatha Hutter, both of Anderson SC. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, 2-4 and 7-8:30 at Olthuis Funeral Home, 159 Godwin Ave. Midland Park. A funeral service will immediately follow visiting at 8:30 PM. Cremation will be private with interment at Valleau Cemetery, Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O.
