Obituary of Mabel Kohan

KOHAN, Mabel "May" (nee Hascup), age 65, died on Saturday, April 7, 2007 in St. Maarten, N.A. Born and raised in Paterson, she lived in Paramus before moving to Franklin Lakes 27 years ago. May was a Homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an administrative assistant with Hillman/Kohan Optical of Paramus. She served on the recreation committee and the shade tree committee in Franklin Lakes. May enjoyed purchasing, selling and appraising rare and collectable dolls. She is survived by her beloved husband Lawrence to whom she was married for 46 wonderful years, her three loving children; Lawrence G. and his wife Kristah of Oakland, Dr. Lisa Bates and her husband Alan of Portland, OR, and Dr. Lynn Kohan of Washington, D.C. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren Ryan and Sean and her brother Edward Hascup of Whiting, sister Betty Mabey of Montville and brother Henry Hascup of Lodi. Also numerous nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family including Mary and Skip Sabol and their children Frank, Dominick, Annette, Gordon, Mary Jane and Susan. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral service celebrating May's life will take place on Saturday, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
