Obituary of Joseph Billotti

Billotti, Joseph D., MD, age 59, died on Monday, January 22, 2007. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Billotti was a resident of Saddle River for 17 years. He graduated from St. John's University in 1969 and received his doctor of medicine and surgery from Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical School in Chicago, IL in 1973. Dr. Billotti was an intern in medicine and resident in surgery at the Cornell University Hospital Program in Manhattan, NY from 1973-1975 and served his residency in orthopedic surgery at New York University Hospital until 1978. From 1978 to 1999 he was in private practice in Ridgewood, NJ and was an attending physician of orthopedic surgery at the Valley Hospital. Dr. Billotti was a diplomat of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the International College of Surgeons. He was a member the American College of Sports Medicine, the Eastern Orthopedic Association, the Orthopedic Research Society, the New Jersey Orthopedic Society, the Ridgewood Medical Society, the Bergen County Medical Group, the American Medical Association, the New Jersey Medical Society, the New Jersey Academy of Medicine, the Italian Medical Society, and was a delegate at large of the State Medical Society of New Jersey from 1992 to 1994. Dr. Billotti gave lectures throughout the world, authored numerous scholarly articles, and held five patents for medical devices. Dr. Billotti was on the executive board of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York/New Jersey and was on the following committees: the Committee for Quality Medical Care of the New Jersey Medical Society, the Masters Students Thesis Committee of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the Federal HICFA Carrier Advisory Committee from 1992 to 1999, and the Professional Advisory Group M.D. Advantage, Malpractice Carrier of New Jersey. Dr. Billotti was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughter Danielle, his son Keith, his daughter-in-law Vanessa, and his granddaughter Ella. Visiting is 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at St. Gabriel's RC Church, 88 E. Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458. Entombment will follow in the All Faith's Mausoleum at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
