Obituary of Robert Salter

Salter, Robert H. age 95 of West Milford, NJ died Saturday, October 16, 2010. Born in Brookline, MA he lived in Staten Island, NY, Whiting, NJ before moving recently to West Milford. Robert was a Senior Borough Superintendent of the New York City Dept of Sanitation. He enlisted in the US Navy the day after Pearl Harbor, serving 4 years. He was a founding member of the Whiting Village Community Center and a pianist with the Cool Brothers Entertainment Group. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Alice (nee Buon) Salter of West Milford, his son, Robert Jr. and wife Jane of Corvallis, OR; his daughter, Patricia and her husband John Connors of Wyckoff, NJ. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Claire Matta, Anna Salter, Catherine Salter all living in Oregon; two great grandsons, Daniel and Jacob Matta and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a loving family man and an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, sweet song and the love he shared with all.
