Obituary of Gerard Kashey

KASHEY, Gerard age 79, died peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Gerard was born in Clifton on August 14, 1927. He was a resident of Midland Park before moving to Glen Rock 20 years ago. Gerard retired in 1993 after 25 years of service to the Village of Ridgewood in the Shade Tree Commission. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army, and was a member and past commander of Midland Park-Wyckoff VFW Post 7086. Surviving is his sister Sadie Odum of St.Simons, GA, his brothers, Robert and Ralph of Clifton, and many nieces and nephews. Gerard was pre-deceased by his sister Victoria Lurvey in 1959 and his brother Lt. Michael Kashey in 1944. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am at the Olthuis Funeral Home, 159 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Cremation will be private. Visiting is Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
