Obituary of Roger Bartel

Bartel, Roger A. age of 78 of Pine Beach, NJ died Friday, November 20, 2009. Born in Jersey City, he grew up in Moonachie and lived in Lodi before moving to Pine Beach 21 years ago. Roger worked for the US Postal Service for 27 years before retiring as Postmaster of the River Edge Post Office. He was an Army veteran who served from 1953-1955. He was a parishioner of St. Barnabas R.C. Church, Bayville, NJ. A member of AMVETS, Pine Beach and the American Postal Workers Association. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Anita (nee Torres) Bartel, his daughters, Jeanette and her husband Bruce Gold of West Linn, OR, Cecilia and her husband Gaspar Lesznik of Wyckoff, NJ and Ines Chiarello and John Sorensen of St. Helena, CA. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Melissa, Sandra, Margaux, Felicia, Giana, Ilona, Gaspar and Marica. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (www.vpfh.com) 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass Saturday 10 am at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Private Cremation will be held.
