Obituary of Arthur Phiefer

PHIEFER, Arthur C. age 78 of Mahwah, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Art was born in Hackensack and grew up in Leonia, he had been a resident of Mahwah for the past 39 years. Art owned and operated several restaurants in the Bergen area including the Timbers Tavern and Grill in Oakland. In more recent years he has worked for the Market Basket in Franklin Lakes. He was a former member and past president of the New Jersey Restaurant Association, a member of the Saddle River Valley Lions Club and was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception R. C. Church in Mahwah. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Lee (nee Finkenstadt), his three devoted sons, Glenn of Lafayette, Neal of Weehawken and Brian of Mahwah and his three adoring grandchildren, Holly, Ryan and Kevin. Art also leaves his brother Andrew of Wyckoff. A prayer service will be held Friday 10:30 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will follow in the Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah. Visiting is Thursday 7:00 until 9:00 pm.
