Obituary of Hilda DeRoo

DeRoo, Hilda (nee Bruins), age 86 died peacefully and went home to her Savior and King on Thursday, March 5, 2009. Born in Clifton, she was a long-time resident of Wyckoff before moving to Hawthorne 15 years ago. Hilda was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church of Wyckoff where as a bible scholar, she was involved in numerous bible studies and various other church activities. She was past president, vice president and secretary of the Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) Auxiliary for 50 years and. worked as a volunteer at The Country Store of the CHCC Nursing Home for 23 years. Hilda had a passion for quilting and sewing. She is survived by her six loving children: Thomas G. of LaCenter, WA, Curtis J. of Grosse Pointe Park, MI, Paul D. of Crownsville, MD, Roger D. of Ann Arbor, MI, Judith K. Bosloper of Hawthorne and Karen S. Iwema of Cincinnati, OH. Hilda is also survived by nine dear grandchildren, three great-granchildren and her sister Bertha Jacobs of Hawthorne. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Clarence J. in 1996 and her brother Sidney Bruins. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. Funeral services on Thursday, 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by interment at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
