Obituary of Thomas Sawyer

SAWYER, Thomas Henry, age 57 of Prospect Park, died peacefully and went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Born in Teaneck, he lived in N. Haledon before moving to Prospect Park 15 years ago. Tom was a self-employed guitar teacher. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Bridgeway Community Church, Haledon. Tom is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Sawyer, his dear son Thomas B. and wife Lori Ann, his dear daughter April Sawyer-Rivera, his three precious granddaughters, Jayme, Danielle, and Haley, his sister Sharon Garland and husband Jack, his nephew Jack Garland, Jr., and niece Tara Garcia. A gathering of friends will take place on Sunday, 2-4 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (www.vpfh.com) 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Cremation will be private. Memorial Service, Monday, 10:00 AM at Bridgeway Community Church, 381 Haledon Ave., Haledon. Interment will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Bridgeway Community Church would be appreciated.
