Obituary of Anna Surak

SURAK, Anna J. (nee Bilinski) age 93 of Hawthorne, died peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Ridgewood Center. Anna was born in Nashua, NH on April 17, 1915. She was a resident of Hawthorne since 1967. Anna loved the art of sewing which was reflected in her role as a seamstress and sample maker for the showrooms of the garment industry. She was a lifelong parishioner of the Holy Cross National Catholic Church in West Paterson where she was a member of the choir, a lector and a past secretary of the parish committee. She was committed to Veterans affairs as evidenced in her role as past president of the Passaic County American Legion Auxiliary. According to her son she baked the best apple cake in the world!!! Surviving is her devoted son John E.P. Surak of Wyckoff, and her loving sister Amelia Senius of Hawthorne. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at the Holy Cross National Catholic Church, 220 Browertown Road, West Paterson, NJ 07424. Interment will follow at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross National Catholic Church Building Fund.
