I had the privilege of working with Edith at Sicomac School. I have such fond memories of living in the "2B/2K neighborhood"; the speech office was diagonally across from Edith's room. She was such a fine lady and compassionate human being; she and Barbara were a wonderful team: the loving atmosphere that Edie created in her classroom everyday and the drill sergeant who invented walking down the halls of Sicomac "on the silver line". I remember how much fun we had celebrating at the staff parties or even having lunch together in the faculty room. My favorite memories of Edith, are when I sat in her classroom to observe a student. At times I got so involved in listening to her and watching her teach, that I forgot the "official" reason for my visit. It was an honor to be her colleague.

I had the privilege of teaching with Edith at Sicomac, where she and Barbara Keller "mentored" me through my first year teaching 2nd grade, answering a gazillion questions and offering suggestions in most gracious ways. Edith and her beloved Roy were a wonderful, fun couple. I'll never forget the good times we all used to have with them at staff parties at the Farinella's and the Weisiger's homes. The last time I saw Edith was after she retired and visited the Sicomac teachers' lunch room, bringing along some of the exquisite china dolls she had handcrafted, a new hobby. I know she embraced her retirement with gusto as a new phase of her life, pursuing many activities and enjoying time with her family and many friends. We'll all miss her smile, her wit, her charm, and her generous heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had Mrs. Blum as a second grade teacher at Sicomac School in Wyckoff in 1976. I will always remember what a great teacher she was and how much she cared about her students. Mrs. Blum was a caring person and teacher that had a positive impact on me and my life. I will always remember her.
